Over the years, America's favourite Mexican fast-casual has introduced a slew of delectable menu items, enhancing the nation's build-your-own burrito and burrito bowl experience. To round off those summery orders, Chipotle is launching a seasonal beverage.
Chipotle's first-ever seasonal beverage, the Watermelon Limeade, was added to the menus this week as a limited-time offer for the forthcoming summer season. It mixes the flavours of sweet watermelon and authentic lime.
The new drink was created in collaboration with Tractor Beverage Co., a company dedicated to organic farming.
The fruity beverage is now available at all Chipotle restaurants in the United States and Canada, with the brand donating 5% of revenues to farm-related charities.
The Tractor's Watermelon Limeade is made with all-natural ingredients and is 100 percent certified organic, non-GMO, and free of additives and preservatives, according to a news release from the chain.
Chipotle tested the Tractor's Watermelon Limeade with great success in Atlanta, Kansas City, and Orange County, California, prior to its official introduction.
Watermelon Limeade "immediately became our bestselling Tractor Beverage in test markets last year," according to Stephanie Perdue, vice president of marketing at Chipotle.
Not only is the fast-food giant investing heavily in organic beverages, but it has also set out to make a difference and help boost support for organic farming in general.
Within the year 2021, Chipotle sourced about 40 million pounds of strictly organic and transitional ingredients.
In order to encourage the future of farming, the chain has promised to secure long-term contracts for farmers under the age of 40 and has committed $5 million to the cause by the end of 2025, according to the chain.
